About

Our Story

Mike and Jackie Chaplin who own the business, live in a Fife village with their two sons and two black labs. They have been lucky enough to live in some wonderful traditional Scottish properties. From tenement flats in Edinburgh and Glasgow, to country houses in the Borders and Fife – they shared the same problem in winter of having cold and draughty windows and costing a fortune to heat! Having looked for secondary glazing solutions for their “new” 300 year old home, they were disappointed that the options they saw were unsuitable for a listed property and in particular most would have stopped the traditional shutters from working.

Mike already runs a successful international business with a Royal Warrant, Click Netherfield Ltd – they design, manufacture and install museum showcases for prestigious institutions around the world – so using his 35 years of design creativity and manufacturing expertise, he set his mind to inventing a solution. A patent application was made for the concept and after a few rounds of 3D printed mockups, full-size prototypes were trialled in their own home with great success.

They saw the potential benefits for other homeowners with similar properties and the positive impact it could have on the environment so decided to share their solution though Conservation Secondary Glazing Ltd.
